HAYAKAWA Hiroshi, D. Sc.

Section of Biochemistry
Department of Functional Bioscience
Division of Biomedical Sciences

He graduated from the Division of Veterinary Science, Faculty of Agriculture, Miyazaki University. Then he entered Graduate School of Science, Kyushu University. He researched as a postdoctoral fellow at Stanford University and as an assistant professor at Department of Medical Chemistry, Faculty of Medical Sciences, Kyushu University. In 2006 he came to Fukuoka Dental College as a professor of Section of Biochemistry, Department of Functional Bioscience.
He has been investigating RNA damages and the way to control it using Escherichia coli and human cells, focusing on the relationship between RNA oxidation and aging. He is shifting his research emphasis from basic research to research on control of aging.
As for education, he put efforts into delivering easy-to-understand lecturers. Also he introduces leading-edge studies in his lectures to provide students with good examples of the old knowledge being taken place by an innovative knowledge.
